We want to hear from people with disability and carers of people with disability about the design of accessibility upgrades at train stations in your area.

We are making public transport options safer and more accessible by upgrading train stations across NSW as part of the Safe Accessible Transport program. We are improving accessibility through installing lifts, widening platforms and improving signage and wayfinding.

The 2023-2024 NSW Budget allocated a total of $800.7 million over four years to implement the new program, which combines the funds of both the existing Transport Access Program (TAP) and Commuter Car Park Program (CCP) and includes an additional $300 million commitment.

The Safe Accessible Transport program will upgrade stations and wharves to achieve compliance with the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (DSAPT), improve amenity, access and safety, and acknowledge the important role these locations have to the communities that they serve.

We are holding two online workshops about the design of your local train station. If you are a person with lived experience of a disability or a carer who regularly uses or would like to use your local train station, we would love to hear your feedback.

The purpose of the online workshops is to better understand what barriers exist for you when using train stations, and how we could better design your local train station to remove those barriers. We are keen to engage with people with different disability types including people with cognitive and intellectual disabilities.
