Feeling safe in public spaces and around transport hubs is important for everyone.

As part of the Safer Cities program, Transport for NSW has developed draft resources to support anyone who is involved or interested in planning, managing and creating welcoming and inclusive places for all.

Transport for NSW is seeking your feedback on the draft resources to help shape the finalised documents for release later in 2024. These documents will form the Great Places Toolkit.

The are five draft resources for review:

  1. Draft for consultation: Shaping places together - Ideas for co-designing places
  2. Draft for consultation: Community Survey tool
  3. Draft for consultation: Updated version of the Evaluation Tool for Public Space and Public Life
  4. Draft for consultation: NSW Guide to gender inclusive placemaking
  5. Draft for consultation: Case studies - Ideas for creating places that feel safer for women, girls and gender diverse people

You can provide feedback by completing a survey and/or making a submission.

Insights from your survey or submission will be summarised in an engagement report to be published with the final versions of the resources.

Transport for NSW hosted a webinar on 6 March 2024. The purpose of the webinar was to provide an opportunity to learn more about the draft resources and some approaches in NSW and internationally to create more welcoming and inclusive places for everyone.

You can watch a recording of the webinar here.
