Changes to seating arrangements effective Friday 23 October 2020
As of Friday 23 October 2020, corporate events can increase the number of attendees sitting at a table from 10 to 30.
How many people are allowed
Full details are provided in the physical distancing section of the COVID-19 Safety Plan.
|Event||Maximum capacity summary|
|Function or corporate event||
300 people per event, or one person per 4 square metres of space indoors and one person per 2 square metres outdoors (excluding staff), whichever is less.
Children count towards the capacity limit.
No more than 30 people at a table.
COVID-19 Safety Plans are mandatory for corporate events
Function centres holding corporate events must have a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place for each event, as well as being registered as a COVID-19 Safe Business.
The event Safety Plan must address the requirements set out in the COVID-19 Safety Plan for conferences, functions and corporate events. Venues holding other functions or conferences may wish to develop a COVID-19 Safety Plan for these events, and can use the guidance in the plan to do so. There is separate COVID-19 Safety Plan guidance for funerals and for weddings.
Complete the plan in consultation with staff, then share it with them.
Keep your plan up to date
You may need to update the plan in the future, as restrictions and advice changes.
You will need to have an up to date plan at your premises at all times and be able to show it to an authorised officer if requested.
Your COVID-19 Safety Plan
You can either:
- use the provided COVID-19 Safety Plan to address the checklist of matters for your conference, function or corporate event
- keep using your existing plan, if you have one, after making sure it includes all the items in the provided COVID-19 Safety Plan.
Things to note:
Register as a COVID Safe business
If you've completed your COVID-19 Safety Plan, you can register as COVID Safe.
