NSW Curriculum
The NSW Curriculum website provides helpful resources to support you in designing and implementing an educational program for your child.
Home schooling parents can use NESA's guide to using syllabus documents and support materials on the NSW Curriculum website.
The guide helps you locate:
- syllabus information
- supporting documents
- examples drawn from syllabuses and resource materials provided for teachers.
Parents may find these resources useful when:
- engaging with new syllabuses
- planning and preparing an educational program
- considering how to deliver particular content.

Syllabus Overviews
The NESA Syllabus Overviews include:
- all NESA syllabuses from K–10
- a selection of syllabuses from Years 11–12.
They contain additional information than has been provided in previous programming tools.
The NESA Syllabus Overviews typically include:
- outcomes
- content
- stage statements (where applicable).
The information provided is a selection of relevant content. It is intended to offer parents a starting point when programming, planning and tracking their child’s learning.

Outcome Summaries
The NESA Outcome Summaries include just the outcomes from all NESA syllabuses. This includes those planned for implementation in 2024.
Outcome Summaries provide a quick reference to assist with:
- programming and planning
- monitoring your child's learning
- tracking progress.
Applicants who are preparing an educational program may use these resources:
If you are preparing an educational program for Year 3–10 you may continue to base your programs on current syllabuses until 12 April 2024. The Programming tool below can still be used for applications submitted up until then:
All home schooling applications submitted from 13 April 2024 however will need to demonstrate that the educational program will be based on the new English and Mathematics 3–10 syllabuses.
Sample scenarios
A range of sample home schooling scenarios are available to support home schooling parents. They demonstrate different:
- home schooling approaches
- elements of home schooling requirements
- syllabuses.
You may wish to use or modify the elements of the sample scenarios that best suit your own needs and approaches.
Templates for home schooling parents
Templates for home schooling parents have been developed to support parents with monitoring and recording their child’s progress. Parents may wish to use these templates or they may wish to develop their own system.
The templates can be downloaded and printed. Parents can use the templates for home schooling parents as is or modify them to suit their own approach.
