Program objective
The Aboriginal Communities Emergency Program aims to achieve the following outcomes:
- Discrete Aboriginal Communities (DAC’s) and local emergency management agencies are better prepared to respond and recover from emergencies and disasters.
- Identify and strengthen local partnerships that contribute to sustainable emergency management in the 12 DACs.
- Aboriginal culture (including caring for Country knowledge and practices) and emergency and disaster management practices are equally valued, championed and integrated into disaster preparation, response and recovery.
- Inform and influence future emergency management for DACs through Aboriginal leadership, evidence-based research and co-design.
