The Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is one of the state's main providers of crisis accommodation and emergency housing, catering for:
- those who are homeless or at risk of losing their home
- low income earners in need of social or affordable housing to rent
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
- people experiencing family or domestic violence.
