The Shed Art Gallery – A Creative Haven in Broken Hill Opened in 2024, The Shed is a testament to cross-cultural collaboration and artistic innovation. The gallery showcases the talents of Dirk Romeyn, an established artist who relocated from the Blue Mountains, alongside Brian Harris, a proud Barkandji man and local Indigenous artist. True to its name, The Shed retains a warm, rustic charm through the creative use of reclaimed and recycled materials, blending sustainability with artistic flair. One of its standout features is a striking public art mural by Dirk Romeyn, contributing to the vibrant mural scene in Broken Hill - Australia's first heritage-listed city. Inside, visitors will discover a diverse collection of artworks, including paintings, drawings, prints, and woodwork. Adding to its growing reputation, The Shed was a finalist in three categories at the Far West NSW Excellence in Business Awards 2024, and again in four categories in 2025. The gallery was also proudly named Winner of the People's Choice "Service with a Smile" Award, a reflection of its welcoming atmosphere and strong community spirit. After exploring, guests can relax in the front sitting area, overlooking Sturt Park, and enjoy an old-fashioned cuppa for a gold coin donation. With its rich blend of art, culture, and friendly hospitality, The Shed has quickly become a must-visit destination in Broken Hill.
