Wanda Beach is great for surfers and sand-lovers alike. Because it's a little further away from the restaurants and cafes of central Cronulla, Wanda Beach can often a bit quieter. It's also great for families too. Above the beach is Don Lucas Reserve – a fantastic grassed open area offering a range of recreation activities including a fitness track, playground, picnic facilities, half basketball court and exercise equipment. Just to the north of Wanda Beach is Greenhills Dog Beach, where dogs can run free within dedicated times in the morning and afternoon. Wanda, an Aboriginal word for beach or sand hills, is the northern most patrolled beach along the Bate Bay coastline in Cronulla. The 1.5-kilometre sandy beach is patrolled from October to April by Sutherland Shire Council's professional lifeguards together with volunteer lifesavers from Wanda Surf Club. Be mindful of rips and always swim between the red and yellow flags. Deep rips and bars can combine to produce some excellent beach breaks making it a popular surf spot. There is a cafe and the Founders Room within Wanda Surf Club is open to guests on Sundays, along with toilets and beach showers.
