Project overview

Construction works began in 2023 to redevelop Arncliffe Estate into a modern and vibrant community. The community will contain both social housing and affordable housing tenants, and private owners. We are working in conjunction with:
- property developer Billbergia Group
- not-for-profit Evolve Housing
- not-for-profit St George Community Housing.
As part of the project, we will replace 142 ageing dwellings with 806 new residential units. This will include:
- 311 social housing apartments
- 291 affordable housing apartments
- 204 private market apartments.
We’re also developing:
- a 4,000 m² public park
- new shops
- community facilities
- a childcare centre
to revitalise the site.
The proposed units are energy and water efficient, and less expensive to maintain. All 311 social housing units are designed to at least Silver Level Livable Housing Design. This will better accommodate the needs of our contemporary tenants.
Former Arncliffe Estate residents who were moved out can return to new homes once the redevelopment is complete.
Construction is due to be completed towards the end of 2027.
