Project overview
Telopea NSW 2117
Homes NSW is pressing ahead with the renewal of Telopea. We are working closely with the City of Parramatta to make sure social and affordable housing meets the needs of the local community, both now and into the future.
We are committed to the renewal of Telopea as an integrated community with a mix of:
- modern homes
- community amenities
- green spaces.
We have completed the refurbishment of 148 units in the Wade Street Towers – commonly known as the ‘Three Sisters’. This has brought much-needed social homes back into use. The refurbishment works include upgrades to kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, lighting, new security systems and fresh landscaped areas for around 240 residents to connect and enjoy.
Polding Place development
We have also progressed the next stage of Telopea’s renewal, through the approval of a State Significant Development Application (SSDA) for a further 423 new homes in Polding Place. The new development will provide a mix of social, affordable and market housing, which will include 146 new social and 99 affordable homes.
To support the development at Polding Place, the City of Parramatta has accepted Homes NSW's letter of offer to enter a Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) to deliver significant public domain improvements. If approved, these works will enhance the local area and deliver exciting new infrastructure and improved amenities for the community.
Project delivery
To accelerate the delivery of the social and affordable housing and public domain improvement, Homes NSW intends to deliver the works in two parts.
Part 1 includes:
- four residential buildings delivering 245 new homes (146 social and 99 affordable) with
a mix of one, two and three bedroom homes and basement car parking - a new light rail plaza and the majority of the new neighbourhood park including sports court, barbecue facilities, picnic areas and outdoor seating
- upgrades to Sturt and Shortland Streets.
Part 2 includes:
- two residential buildings delivering 178 market homes
- completion of the remaining portion of the new neighbourhood park.
We'll continue to collaborate with stakeholders and the local community as we move forward with new housing in Telopea.
