Briefings to connect Central West businesses to local work
Businesses across the Mudgee and Dubbo regions are invited to attend a series of upcoming information and networking events that will spotlight work opportunities linked to the Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) and major infrastructure projects.
The December briefings aim to help local businesses understand the scale and scope of infrastructure investment planned for the Central West region, including the construction of battery, solar and wind farms, distribution lines and temporary worker accommodation.
Major contractors will deliver presentations outlining the work opportunities expected over the next six months, along with details on procurement processes and timelines.
Attendees are encouraged to ask questions and engage directly with industry representatives involved in delivering these significant projects.
A wide range of local businesses are invited to attend, with opportunities in trades, hospitality, accommodation, construction, professional services, site preparation and maintenance and materials supply.
All attendees have the opportunity to register for a business directory which will be distributed to project proponents and their major contractors to assist with procurements.
Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development Executive Director of Regional Economic Development Ian Smith said similar briefings held earlier this year have successfully connected hard-working, local businesses with new opportunities.
“We’ve had an overwhelming response to our business briefings in the Central West this year, with more than 400 attendees coming along to hear about the exciting opportunities they could be part of,” Mr Smith said.
“The briefings are doing an excellent job of informing local businesses about upcoming work in the region and connecting them with key industry stakeholders.
“The business directory has more than 160 businesses listed and is regularly requested by proponents and their major contractors.
“We’re seeing an infrastructure boom in the Central West and these events are helping ensure local trades and businesses are equipped with the knowledge and skills to secure work—keeping funding flowing directly into the region.
“While we’ve already reached many, we know there are still plenty of great businesses in the area that could benefit from everything these events have to offer.
“I encourage local businesses to register for the briefings, and I look forward to seeing even more roll out next year.”
