The Canowindra community has been being given a first look at the $8.3 million HealthOne Redevelopment, which will improve access to care by bringing a range of health services together at one location.
Artist impressions showcase the new HealthOne, which will feature contemporary spaces to accommodate multiple providers like General Practitioners (GPs) and community healthcare services.
The HealthOne facility will be located on the site of the existing hospital, improving continuity of care as people move more seamlessly between hospital, primary care and community settings.
Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said planning and design of the HealthOne has involved extensive consultation with healthcare providers and stakeholders, including hospital staff and GPs, to ensure the best outcome for the community.
“The new HealthOne will provide a purpose-built facility for multi-disciplinary teams to deliver integrated primary and community care services for the local Canowindra community and the wider region," Mr Park said.
“With these services all in one place and the hospital right next door, our dedicated healthcare professionals will be able to work together more efficiently and our community will have access to a one stop shop for all their health needs.”
“The new HealthOne will be a brand new, modern facility with room to expand, which will help provide attractive opportunities for new healthcare professionals to establish themselves in a friendly, welcoming community.
“With demolition on site now complete, the community can expect to see the HealthOne progress quickly. While there may be some disruption as you’d expect with any major redevelopment, the project team will work to ensure that is minimised as much as possible.”
Canowindra Health Service Manager Matt McGrath said the community was provided opportunities to learn more about the HealthOne designs and provide feedback, which was overwhelmingly positive.
"Demolition of the existing structures and dwelling on site is now complete, and the project team has begun preparations to further prepare the site for construction, it's exciting progress to see being made on the redevelopment," Mr McGrath said.
"Extensive traffic management plans will be put in place during construction of the HealthOne. A review of existing hospital traffic flows is underway, to determine requirements and ensure the safety of staff, patients, the community and contractors while work is ongoing."
