Approved for Kurri Burri Polo Club
While COVID prevented the Club from earning the necessary income required to maintain the playing surface at our ground, the recent flooding events (twice) have ruined the surface making it unsafe to use, compounding the problem of income generation. This grant will fix the surface and through a combination of replacement and restoration allow us to play again and generate income for future maintenance. The scope of works will also mitigate the severity of impact from future severe climate events that results in sustained inundation due to a more robust surface.

Due to its location, running parallel to Cockle Creek and close to where the river flows into Lake Macquarie, Macquarie Field is often rain affected with game and training time lost due to surface water. This year alone 11 of 22 games were postponed or moved due flooding at the ground. This impacted players of all ages from mini roos to our first-grade team who all use the mixed space during the week. This project will install drainage, increase the height of the playing field, and improve the playing surface to maximise field use.

The Lismore Memorial Baths Resilient Recovery project will improve the resilience of the memorial baths facility and improve the speed at which the recovery of this asset is reactivated following future flooding events. By replacing pumps and filters with more efficient and robust filters, the existing pumps installed in 2004 are a long-coupled pump and are at the end of their life. This project will replace these pumps with Pentair Star Pro Closed Coupled Pump, which are a more common pump used in the industry, and have the benefits of all stainless steel volute, back plate and impeller.
