Program objective
State and territory governments around Australia, in collaboration with livestock industry representatives, are working towards the implementation of individual electronic identification (eID) for sheep and goats by 1 January 2027.
As part of the implementation of eID of sheep and goats in New South Wales and to incentivise early adoption of eID devices by NSW sheep and farmed goat owners.
The NSW Government is implementing this eID tag discount program, being the “NSW Sheep & Goat eID Device Payment program", to provide extra funding for a point-of-sale discount on eligible devices.
This program is funded and administered by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development.
