Program objective
The Open Streets Program: Foundation Events 2026–27 (the Program) aims and objectives are to:
- Ground Foundation Events in the local experience to enhance NSW’s status as a world-class event destination that celebrates and grows community identity and sense of place
- Expand the benefits obtained from the Foundation Events by activating the surrounding precinct with free street-based events
- Encourage a larger and more diverse community to participate in and safely engage with Foundation Events
- Support mode shift to public and/or active transport and e-micromobility options for attendees
- Support cultural industries and drive economic growth with more sustainable ongoing delivery of street-based events.
This program is administered by Cities and Active Transport.
