Up to $1 billion in funding will be provided over the course of the program, primarily to support infrastructure solutions that improve water quality, water security and environmental outcomes. The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water manages and administers the program.
SSWP funding update
SSWP funding is available to 2028, or until all funds are fully allocated to Councils and Local Water Utilities that have previously received a funding offer. Eligible projects are funded on a first-in, first-served basis, and a funding deed must be executed to secure funds. The program is now close to fully contracting remaining funds for priority projects.
The program will prioritise funding for applications that resolve critical risks, with a focus on projects ready to progress to construction, to ensure that the program maximises on-ground benefits for local communities.
This change does not impact current funding deeds.
This program is administered by Water.
This program is funded by Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.
