The NSW Sexual Violence Project Fund is a grants program that will fund a range of one-off and time-limited early intervention and response projects that address and respond to sexual violence in priority populations in NSW.

Program objective
The Fund will provide $10 million in grants to support projects for up to two years focusing on high priority groups that:
- Improve the capacity of the system to intervene early and respond appropriately to high priority groups
- Increase delivery of early intervention and response projects to communities across NSW, to high priority groups informed by co-design principles.
- Improve outcomes and effectiveness of service delivery and improve integration through stronger coordination, collaboration, and information sharing
This program is administered by Department of Communities and Justice.
Eligibility
Who can apply
The Sexual Violence Project Fund (SVPF) has 2 streams:
Stream 1
Only organisations with the following legal status will be eligible to apply for funding:
- Incorporated organisation registered and approved as not-for-profit body by NSW Fair Trading
- NSW based not-for profit company limited by guarantee (must be registered with ACNC and/or have DGR status)
- NSW based Indigenous Corporation (must be registered with Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations)
- NSW Local Aboriginal Land Council
- Religious organisation operating in NSW
- NSW non-government organisation established under its own Act of Parliament

Stream 2
Stream 2 is designed for projects delivered by a group of organisations or partnership. The lead applicant must be an eligible entity included in the list of eligible organisations mentioned above.
Non-lead partner can include:
- NSW Government agencies and Local Government Councils
- Unincorporated community groups
- Non-profit organisations
- For-profit organisations providing pro bono services, and/or
- Other eligible organisations listed above.
Who can’t apply
The Sexual Violence Project Fund is not intended to fund projects that replicate or duplicate existing services or programs already operating in NSW.
Types of projects funded under this grant
The Sexual Violence Project Fund is intended to fund projects focused on early intervention and response strategies for high priority groups, including:
- Women and children at risk of or experiencing sexual violence
- First Nations people
- Culturally and linguistically diverse communities (in particular, people of refugee, refugee-like experiences, and asylum seeker backgrounds)
- Rural and remote communities
- LGBTIQ+ people
- Older women
- Children and young people (in particular, those who have experienced trauma, sexual and domestic violence or who are in or leaving out-of-home care)
- People with disability

Before applying, please read the following documents:
Address the eligibility criteria
- Confirm your organisation eligible (see above).
- Project focus – applicants will have to select whether their project focus primarily on early intervention or response to sexual violence. The Fund will not support primary prevention initiatives.
- Geographic location(s) – projects must be implemented within the state of NSW only.
- Priority groups – projects must clearly demonstrate their focus on at least one of the following high priority groups outlined under types of projects funded under this grant.

Start the application
All applications must be completed via the SmartyGrants portal.
If the applicant organisation has previously used Smarty Grants to apply for a grant, then they will already be registered and can use existing usernames and log in details, and do not need to set up a new registration/account.
All required attachments must be uploaded through the online application form in Smarty Grants. Please do not upload documents that have not been requested or email additional attachments– only your response to the application form will be used to assess your application.
Stream 2 lead applicant must upload a letter of understanding jointly signed by all partners. Alternatively, applicants can submit a subcontract form that can be downloaded from the DCJ website.
Applications will not be accepted unless they are submitted online through the Smarty Grants portal.
Incomplete, late and/or non-compliant applications will not be progressed for assessment.
After the application is submitted
- The applications will be assessed and both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified. Assessment outcomes will be announced in mid-May 2023.
- Funding agreements will be established and payment will be made by 30 June 2023.
- The final date for the financial acquittal and project conclusion is no later than 30 June 2025.
