Upgrading of Flood Warning Infrastructure

About the Project

The Flood Warning Infrastructure at five low-level bridge crossings within the Hills Local Government Area will be upgraded to improve safety, reduce flood risk and help keep communities informed during flood events. Council’s five bridge crossings are located within the rural region of The Hills Local Government Area at the following locations:

  • Pitt Town Road, Kenthurst (over Cattai Creek)
  • Pitt Town Road, Maraylya (over Cataract Creek)
  • Cattai Ridge Road, Glenorie/Maraylya (over Cattai Creek)
  • McClymonts Road (over Cattai Creek)
  • Blue Gum Road (over Blue Gum Creek)

Project Scope

The works will consist of:

  • Steel hinged road gates
  • Signage 
  • Concrete median islands for single lane gates.
  • Electronic flood level warning systems 
  • Programmable trailer mounted VMS signs
  • Portable traffic signals.
  • Road line-marking.
