The Bankstown-Lidcombe Emergency Department represents an important boost to healthcare services in the Bankstown community. The redevelopment included a combination of new build and refurbishment of the existing Emergency Department to deliver contemporary facilities with improved patient care.
The NSW Government invested $25 million to redevelop the Bankstown-Lidcombe Emergency Department.

Scope
The project includes:
- an increase in treatment spaces
- enhanced emergency care for the local community, in a safe, contemporary facility
- improved triage performance
- reduced hospital stays due to additional Emergency Department short stay unit capacity
- streaming of patients to the most appropriate environment of care to reflect their level of complexity
- best practice arrangements for mental health, paediatric and bariatric patients.
