The $835 million John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct is creating opportunities for women in construction, who currently represent 14% of the project workforce.  

The John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct (JHHIP) team recently welcomed several new project officers to the team to help prepare staff and services for the transition.

John Hunter Hospital opens a new main walkway linking the existing hospital to the new building, with further upgrades and retail space underway.

Local artist Ellie Hannon has created six large artworks for the new precinct that will feature in wallpaper designs in several clinical areas (Emergency Department, Day Surgery, Operating Theatres, Intensive Care, Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care, as well as the Special Care Nursery, Birthing and the Executive Administration Unit). 

The Hon Yasmin Catley, (MP for Swansea and Minister for the Hunter) and the Hon Jodie Harrison (MP for Charlestown and Minister for Women) recently visited the construction site to see the progress made on the largest hospital redevelopment outside metropolitan Sydney.

This week, the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct (JHHIP) team hosted members of the Property Council Australia, who are based in the Hunter region, during a visit to the site.

October marks 2 years of construction at John Hunter Health Precinct, with 8 of 12 levels built and new bridges linking to the hospital underway.
