The NSW Government is investing $140 million to redevelop the Manning Base Hospital. Stage 1 was allocated $40 million of this amount.
Project information
Stage 1 of the Manning Hospital Redevelopment delivered:
- enhanced cancer care services
- renal dialysis services
- medical imaging services
- a hospital carpark reconfiguration
- an increased number of consultation spaces and a refurbished hospital main entrance.
Benefits
The project:
- delivered a new, purpose-built facility which will allow the Taree community to have access to quality healthcare closer to home.
- delivered the hospital's first MRI machine, which will provide quality imaging services close to home for the community of Taree and the surrounding region
- provided enhanced cancer care and renal dialysis services for the communities throughout the lower Mid-North Coast, limiting travel to larger centres in the Myall Lakes District
- refurbished the main entry of the existing hospital to make it inviting and contemporary environment for patients and staff.
Scope
The project included:
- 8 chemotherapy chairs including an isolation room and a procedure room
- 8 satellite renal dialysis chairs including one isolation room, plus two home training chairs
- a new patient and staff carpark improving parking facilities
- improved access for patients with general administration and support areas for the associated clinical services
- refurbishment of the existing hospital main entry
- new Medical Imaging floor including:
- 2 X-ray rooms
- orthopantomogram (OPG) room - a panoramic X-ray that takes images of the upper and lower jaws, including teeth
- fluoroscopy room
- CT scanning room
- an MRI
- 2 ultrasound rooms
- general administration and support areas for clinical services
- 6 consulting rooms, including a dedicated plaster room.
