NSW Health Prototyping Centre

Health Infrastructure established the NSW Health Prototyping Centre (HPC) in partnership with eHealth NSW, HealthShare NSW, and NSW Health Pathology.

The 1,000 square metre facility at Macquarie Park provides simulated clinical, community, and laboratory spaces and services. It also has workshop facilities, a low-cost 'safe to fail' environment for NSW Health. 

Opened in July 2022, the HPC brings together healthcare staff, consumers, carers, industry and academia to test the viability of new health products, services, and systems - determining early on what concepts should be further developed and potentially introduced into healthcare settings.

The centre is designed to be:

• Experiential: staff, patients and consumers can experience a new facility, equipment, digital health technology and/or models of care with the intention of capturing feedback to improve or discard the proposed solutions.
• Integrated: provides a holistic approach to prototyping through the simulation of facilities, equipment, digital solutions and models of care.
• Dynamic and interactive: a flexible space, where a range of prototypes and simulations can be quickly and cost effectively dismantled and rebuilt as clinical technologies and patient needs change.
• Generic and universally accessible: the simulation space is local health district and facility agnostic to ensure scalability for solutions.
