The Tumut Hospital Redevelopment involved planning, design and delivery of a new facility, demolition of old buildings and construction of a new helipad on the health campus just south of the previous hospital buildings.
Project information
Completed in November 2022, the new hospital offers health services under the one roof to allow for the modern delivery of healthcare.
The NSW Government invested $50 million to redevelop the Tumut Hospital.
Benefits
The project:
- delivered a modern and integrated healthcare service to meet the current and future healthcare needs of Tumut and its surrounding communities of Gundagai, Batlow and Adelong
- provided an opportunity to develop a healthcare service that suits the new models of care and takes advantage of the site to create a more welcoming and healing environment
- enabled the provision of the existing services in a new contemporary facility, along with new services such as the CT service and additional telehealth services
- took advantage of the site's orientation to bring natural light into the hospital
- provided contemporary health facilities that will help attract and retain skilled healthcare professionals to the District.
Scope
The project included:
- Emergency Department
- inpatient unit
- birthing unit
- operating theatre and day surgery
- wellness centre providing community health, community mental health, community drug and alcohol services, ambulatory care clinics and space for education and group therapy services
- quiet room for families
- cultural room clinical support services including a medical imaging unit, pharmacy and pathology with on-site laboratory
- administration and non-clinical support areas
- new helipad
- landscaping car park.
