About the Far West LHD

The Far West Local Health District covers 194,949 square kilometres and is geographically the second largest Local Health District in NSW.

About us

The Far West LHD is geographically the second largest of the 15 Local Health Districts (LHD) across NSW.

We provide health care for more than 30,000 people living across 194,949 km2, including those in the Silver City of Broken Hill.

Far West LHD has the most spread-out population of any in NSW, and the highest proportion of Aboriginal residents (12%).

Acknowledgement of Country

The Far West Local Health District acknowledges the traditional owners of the lands within its boundaries including the Barkandji, the Muthi Muthi, the Wilyakali, the Ngiyampaa, the Wadigali, the Malyangaba and the Wangkumara.

We acknowledge and pay respects to the Elders past and present and their ancient wisdoms. We also acknowledge the Aboriginal community members who are part of our communities today.
