As part of the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Value NSW supports the Valuer General and delivers trusted valuation services that help support council rates, land tax assessments, compulsory acquisition compensation and government decision-making across NSW.

As a Graduate Valuer, you'll work alongside experienced professionals undertaking land valuations, assessing objections, supporting compulsory acquisitions and providing valuation advice across government.

Build experience across the valuation profession

The Graduate Valuer Program is designed to provide broad exposure to the diverse work undertaken within the valuation profession while helping you discover where your strengths and interests lie.

Rotations may include:

• rating and taxing valuations
• objections
• compulsory acquisitions
• specialist valuations
• valuation research and reporting
• customer and stakeholder engagement.

With up to six rotations across key areas of Value NSW, you'll develop practical skills, technical expertise and valuable professional networks that will support your long-term career growth.

At Value NSW, you'll contribute to work that makes a real difference to communities across New South Wales.

As the agency that supports the Valuer General, we help deliver the state's land valuation system. Every year, Value NSW supports more than 2.7 million land valuations with a combined value of approximately $3 trillion. These valuations support council rates and land tax assessments across NSW.

We also support the valuation and compensation process for compulsory land acquisitions, provide valuation services for government property transactions, and deliver specialist valuation advice to government agencies across the state.

Build a long-term career

The Graduate Valuer Program provides a pathway into a profession with strong long-term career opportunities.

As your career progresses, you may be eligible to pursue Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) accreditation through the Australian Property Institute. Throughout the program, you'll receive support, mentoring and practical experience to help build the knowledge and capability required for professional accreditation.

Many graduates have successfully progressed into ongoing valuation roles after completing the program.

Locations

Roles are available across NSW, with Parramatta, Newcastle, Wollongong and Queanbeyan preferred locations. Opportunities may also be available in Bathurst, Coffs Harbour, Orange, Taree and Murwillumbah.

Can I apply?

You may be eligible if you:

• are an Australian citizen, New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident
• have completed, or will complete, qualifications that meet the eligibility requirements for Associate Membership of the Australian Property Institute
• hold current Student Membership or Provisional Membership of the Australian Property Institute
• hold a current driver's licence and are willing to travel as part of the role.

Value NSW Graduate Program

What attracted me to the grad program, was the wide variety of valuation types across New South Wales.
There was also a supportive, and clear structured path towards becoming certified as a valuer here.
What attracted me to apply for the grad program was the opportunity to serve in the New South Wales public sector,
and to help out with New South Wales communities.
I would say one of the most memorable experiences I've had so far, is being able to go on an inspection run with 4 of my peers,
and I also learned a lot on how to do technical valuation skills.
One of the key highlights for me was definitely going out and doing site inspections
but, also, apply some of the knowledge that we had gained through our degree.
So, the program has supported my professional development
by giving me the confidence to put my hand up when we get new projects that come in.
It's also broadened my technical abilities as a valuer, and my understanding of legislative framework.
I would say my main advice is just apply. 
You're learning a lot, everyone's supporting your growth,
and it really emphasises on creating a comprehensive knowledge of what you can do in the valuation space.
Don't second guess yourself, whether you're a regional student
or someone looking to change their career. Take the leap.
It is a supportive environment, and the learning opportunities are unmatched.
