Homeowners in the Resilient Homes Program (RHP) have been making the most of our Industry Connect events. Since April, over 500 homeowners have visited RHP events delivered across the Northern Rivers, seeking information and support to take the next step towards making their homes more resilient to future floods.
A key focus of the events has been connecting homeowners with builders, house lifters, relocators and managing consultants.
“I accomplished more in half an hour than I have all year. A builder is coming tomorrow to look at what we can do. This was so good.”
RHP participant, Lismore
“I’m actually feeling excited. We can get things moving. I’m so pleased I came.”
RHP participant, Broadwater

Rather than contacting multiple organisations separately, at these events homeowners can make the most of having everyone involved in the process in one room, including council, construction professionals, and Resilient Homes Program A team members. Homeowners can gather the information and support to keep their projects moving forward.
“We felt like we were treading water before coming here. But now we’ve got an idea. We know what to do at this stage we’re at.”
RHP participant, Broadwater
At Industry Connect events homeowners can:
- Connect with local construction industry professionals
- Review their Home Assessment Report with the NSW Reconstruction Authority team
- Explore options, including raising, rebuilding, relocating or retrofitting, as well as resilient materials
Speak with council officers about the development approval process
“That was so good. Got a cookie. Got a cuppa. Got my problems solved.”
RHP participant, Murwillumbah
More Industry Connect events will be delivered throughout the year to support homeowners in the Resilient Homes Program.
