Moree Special Activation Precinct

A Moree Special Activation Precinct is being investigated and will look at ways to take advantage of its location in the middle of the most productive grain region in Australia.

Plans for Moree

Known for its high-value agricultural produce, innovative farming and concentration of agribusinesses, the Moree precinct will cover an area of 4,716 hectares.

The precinct will take advantage of its location, leveraging the Inland Rail route and Newell Highway to create a thriving new business hub.

Industry and employment opportunities

Building on its road, rail and air transport connections, the precinct will create jobs across a range of industries, including:

  • Value-added agriculture
  • Advanced manufacturing
  • Freight and logistics

Moree is set to become a true intermodal hub that will enable businesses to access global markets

Next steps

After extensive community and stakeholder consultation, the draft master plan is now on public exhibition. The master planning process included a range of technical studies to understand heritage, ecological, social and economic considerations for the precinct.

View the draft master plan and ‘have your say’ online. Submissions close Tuesday, 15 June 2021.
