Designated Area Migration Agreement – A feasibility study in NSW
A Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) is a formal agreement between the Australian Government and a regional authority, allowing employers in designated areas to access overseas workers for occupations and conditions tailored to their specific economic and labour market needs. DAMAs provide greater flexibility than standard skilled migration programs, helping businesses address critical skill shortages.

Developing a Designated Area Migration Agreement (DAMA) for Regional NSW
The NSW Government is conducting a feasibility study to determine the most effective model for a DAMA in regional NSW.
As part of this study, we are gathering industry insights through the Industry Needs Survey to better understand immediate and mid-term skilled migration needs.
If you are a business operating in regional NSW, we encourage you to complete the survey below. Your input will help shape our understanding of future workforce requirements for skilled and semi-skilled roles.
We also invite industry bodies, employer groups, unions, professional associations, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to contribute written submissions to the study. If you wish to make a submission, please contact us at regional.migration@investment.nsw.gov.au.
The survey and written submissions will close on Thursday, 15 May 2025, at 11:59 pm.
