About this location
Bathurst Town Square is a public space in the very heart of this vibrant regional city.
Although it’s evolved over time – losing some buildings such as the School of Arts Hall, where Dame Nellie Melba once sang – there is still plenty to admire.
Swing by the Gothic building that was once Bathurst Public School – today it houses the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum. Listen to the War Memorial Carillon in Kings Parade chime each quarter-hour and play a tune at noon and 1pm daily.
Watch the ducks paddling in the Victorian-era Machattie Park and admire the roses and other flowers laid out around the ornate band rotunda.
