Australia’s largest football stands tall in the Bland Shire village of Ungarie.
This 800-kilogram fibreglass replica Sherrin proudly resides in Bing Wallder Park, serving as a permanent tribute to Ungarie and Australia’s most famous footballing family – the Danihers.
Ungarie natives Terry, Anthony, Neale, and Chris Daniher are legends of Australian football, and they remain the only set of four brothers to have played together in an AFL/VFL premiership match.
The construction of this giant football was spearheaded by the Ungarie Advancement Group and the local community, with support from Bland Shire Council and Triple M Rocks Footy. Significant funding was also provided by the NSW Government.
This unique photo opportunity is a must-see for anyone travelling in and around the Bland Shire, and it’s a mecca for Essendon and Australian football fans alike.
