In response to the devastating 2022 floods, the Community Resilience Grants Program was created to support long-term recovery across the Northern Rivers.
Thanks to a $1 million investment from the Reconstruction Authority, and in partnership with the Northern Rivers Community Foundation, 20 grassroots organisations received funding to deliver essential services, ranging from material aid and housing support to mental health care and social connection.
Main Arm Disaster Recovery's story:
Main Arm Disaster Recovery (MADR) hosted 11 community-led events at Kohinur Hall over nine months. Designed to nurture collaboration, inclusion, and wellbeing, these gatherings attracted more than 100 participants and focused on strengthening long-term community resilience through connection and empowerment.
Recovery happens faster when people feel connected, supported and part of something bigger than themselves.
