Program application closure dates

New applications for the Resilient Homes Program closed 31 March 2026. Homeowners have until 20 December 2026 to submit a building scope of works. 

All Buyback property purchases must be settled by 30 June 2026. Relocations must occur by the end of 2026

All Resilient Measures renovation and building works must be completed by 31 March 2027 with payments finalised and acquitted by mid-June 2027.

Community is at the heart of recovery in the Central West. The NSW Reconstruction Authority is working with local communities and councils to support recovery from the 2022 floods, backed by a $100 million joint Australian and NSW Government recovery and resilience package which includes: 
  • $40 million for the Resilient Homes Program Central West and $2 million for community consultation
  • $1 million for the Legal Aid Assistance Program
  • $32 million for the Regional Transport Resilience Fund
  • $25 million for the Community Assets Program
 

Resilient Homes Program

The Resilient Homes Program is providing assistance to homeowners to improve the resilience of eligible residential properties already affected by flooding.

Regional Transport Resilience Fund

This $32 million fund supports improvements to roads and transport infrastructure in four Central West NSW councils impacted by the 2022 floods.

Community Assets Program

The $25 million Community Assets Program helps councils repair, rebuild and improve community facilities damaged in the 2022 floods.

Temporary housing

Temporary Housing Program many residents stay in safe, short‑term housing after their homes were damaged in the 2022 floods.

Support Services

A range of services are available in the Central West to support residents through their recovery.

Community Leaders Forum

The Community Leaders Forum (CLF) was set up to oversee the delivery of the $100 million Central West Resilience and Recovery Package.

The CLF meets regularly to help guide recovery and reconstruction decisions. It makes sure discussions are led by community leaders and shaped by local community needs.

Forums are chaired by the Member for Orange, Mr Philip Donato MP, and are attended by the mayors of Cabonne, Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan councils, along with representatives from the Australian and NSW Governments.

Living the dream after a flood-induced nightmare

Brian and Lesley Smith’s retirement plans were disrupted when floods destroyed their Eugowra home in November 2022. With help from the NSW Reconstruction Authority, they were able to recover and rebuild in a raised modular home. Today, the Smiths are looking ahead with optimism and focusing on creating a safe and positive future.
