Who we are
Your information is being collected by Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service. Building Commission NSW gives priority to protecting the privacy of your personal information, in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).

Why are we collecting your personal information
Building Commission NSW, as part of the Department of Customer Service, is collecting your personal information through an online subscription form.
The purpose of the collection is to subscribe you to receive news and information from us via our email newsletter BCNSW News, and occasional updates (direct email campaigns) on Building Commission NSW relevant projects or initiatives, or legislative changes.
What personal information we collect
We may collect the following information:
- Your full name
- Your email address
- Reason for subscribing
- Your consent to be subscribed
Are you required by law to provide us with this information?
Providing us with the requested information is not required by law. However, if you choose not to provide us with the requested information, we may not be able to inform you of information relevant to the regulation of building and construction in NSW by Building Commission NSW.
How we may use this information
We will use the personal information we collect about you:
- To email you a newsletter or other occasional updates in relation to the regulation of building and construction in NSW by Building Commission NSW.
- Internal administrative purposes, and in relation to compliance, investigations, and enforcement of any relevant Acts and Regulations.
- To contact you directly in response to information you provide to us through a survey or form in the email newsletter BCNSW News.
- In deidentified form, to support more informed policy making, program management, evaluation, research and service planning.
- Other directly related purposes.
Who we may share your information with
Swift Digital, a third-party software provider, collects and processes your personal information for us including first name, last name and email address and consent to be subscribed for the purpose of subscribing to receive Building Commission NSW email newsletters and direct email campaigns. If required, we may disclose your personal information to other NSW Government agencies, or other States, Territories and/or the Commonwealth government for the purposes of sending email news and information and occasional updates on projects, initiatives or legislative changes, and for any compliance, enforcement and investigation purposes as required or authorised by law.
Unless stated otherwise, we will not disclose your personal information to any other party, unless we are authorised or permitted to do so by law or where you have given consent.

Protecting your information
We will store and manage your information in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 and the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. We have measures in place to help protect your personal information from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, disclosure, or other misuse.
We will only keep information for as long as we need it to fulfil the purposes we collected it for. After which, the information will be disposed of securely in accordance with the State Records Act 1998 (NSW) and any other applicable legislation.
