Project overview
The Land Services Program will be delivered over 2 years to support landholders in the Western Local Land Services region who are looking to improve business performance and land management outcomes. The program includes:
- a structured program in the first year
- one-on-one support from case officers
- access to mentors
- access to a $10,000 training allocation.
Project objectives
The program will:
- build landholder skills in business, land and people management
- support development of whole-of-property plans
- improve decision making using financial and production data
- strengthen long-term business productivity and resilience
- provide the opportunity to network with other landholders.
Program timeline
- Year 1
- Quarter 1: Human factors
- Quarter 2: Finances
- Quarter 3: Stocktake
- Quarter 4: Action plan.
- Year 2
- Quarter 1: Support and guidance for stocktake
- Quarter 2: Support and guidance for human factors
- Quarter 3: Support and guidance for finances
- Quarter 4: Support and guidance for action plan.
Project delivery
The program runs over 2 years, in the first year there is a structured program covering:
- Human factors: a one-day group session covering goals, lifestyle, roles and succession.
- Financial benchmarking: group workshops and one-on-one session with experienced farm benchmarking consultants to identify areas of opportunity and improvement.
- Stocktake: a two-day session identifying physical and natural assets and future goals incorporating physical and digital mapping tools and one-on-one property visits.
- Action plan: one day session to develop a holistic property plan incorporating production systems and management plans.
In the second-year participants will:
- continue to work with case officers to develop property plans
- gain access to a $10,000 training allocation per business to use for training that is aligned with their pre-determined goals.
Work underway
There have been 5 cohorts that have completed the program to date. Intake 6 will commence in August 2026.
How to get involved
Recruitment is underway for cohort 6 to start in August 2026 and finish in June 2028.
