Who we are

Spatial Services, registered as DCS Spatial Services within the NSW Department of Customer Service, is the NSW Government’s spatial data and surveying authority, enabling faster housing growth, safer communities and smarter services across NSW.

What we do

We create and maintain NSW’s foundational spatial data. This authoritative data defines the natural and built environments across the state. It gives government and industry trusted information to plan better, build faster and deliver safer, smarter services. This data supports key outcomes across NSW. It helps identify land for housing, plan infrastructure, respond to emergencies and manage the environment. Accurate and consistent location information helps people make decisions with confidence.

We support safer communities by providing spatial information for emergency management. As a Supporting Agency under the NSW State Emergency Management Plan, Spatial Services helps coordinate trusted data, mapping, and analysis when agencies need a shared view of risk. This supports preparedness, response, and recovery across NSW.

Our work supports First Nations initiatives and stronger community identity. We help recognise and preserve Aboriginal place names and connection to Country. We also support names that reflect the stories, history, and diversity of NSW communities.

We lead and regulate the NSW surveying industry. Our standards protect the integrity of land boundaries and the survey system. This gives people confidence when land is bought, sold, developed, or used for infrastructure.

We provide mapping platforms and tools that make spatial data easier to find, access and use. These tools help people analyse complex information and turn it into practical insights, making spatial data more useful and accessible for decision-making.

We deliver secure design, print, mailout and warehousing services for the NSW Government. These services help agencies create and deliver clear information for customers and communities, supporting projects from concept through to production, distribution and storage.
