May 2026 project update

We are moving to ‘systems go’ inside and outside the tunnels for progressively testing and commissioning the safety and alert equipment that will protect motorists, support incident response and ensure traffic flows smoothly.  In parallel, the team is also engaging with emergency services on operational readiness covering a range of topics.  While doing this, the team is also starting to build the final bridge on the project and encouraging people to check out our animations for each of the interchanges https://oeappcoffsbypass.net/showcase on our digital portal.

We are also celebrating three very successful years of partnering with local Rotary clubs to support the next generation of engineers competing in the Science and Engineering Challenge for students. View the May 2026 project update.

Coffs Harbour bypass traffic changes between Korora Interchange and Sapphire Beach

To keep you moving while the project team safely continue building the bypass, there will be several traffic changes in Korora between now and December 2026.

Shephards Lane out of hours concrete pours and saw cutting – June 2026

As part of major construction, the Coffs Harbour bypass team will continue building local property accesses north of Shephards Lane, which includes pouring concrete and then sawing it. We have included a map showing the location of this work.

Construction on Pacific Highway and at Charlesworth Bay Road intersection

The project team is starting to build the shared path, upgrade the road and install traffic lights along the Pacific Highway between James Small Drive (south) and south of Charlesworth Bay Road within the project boundary. We will temporarily close the right turn in and right turn out at the highway and Charlesworth Bay Road while we complete this work.

Pacific Highway and local road changes, Korora

As part of major construction, there will be temporary traffic changes to the Pacific Highway and local roads between the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge and Campbell Close, Korora. These changes will allow the team to continue building the extension of Solitary Islands Way and the new highway southbound carriageway in this area.

Temporary closure of Englands Road, North Boambee

The project team is laying asphalt pavement on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Englands Road, North Boambee. To do this work we will temporarily close Englands Road (east). Road users will be detoured through Isles Drive.
