May 2026 project update

We are moving to ‘systems go’ inside and outside the tunnels for progressively testing and commissioning the safety and alert equipment that will protect motorists, support incident response and ensure traffic flows smoothly. In parallel, the team is also engaging with emergency services on operational readiness covering a range of topics. While doing this, the team is also starting to build the final bridge on the project and encouraging people to check out our animations for each of the interchanges https://oeappcoffsbypass.net/showcase on our digital portal.

We are also celebrating three very successful years of partnering with local Rotary clubs to support the next generation of engineers competing in the Science and Engineering Challenge for students. View the May 2026 project update.

Pacific Highway and local road changes, Korora

As part of major construction, there will be temporary traffic changes to the Pacific Highway and local roads between the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge and Campbell Close, Korora. These changes will allow the team to continue building the extension of Solitary Islands Way and the new highway southbound carriageway in this area.

Temporary closure of Englands Road, North Boambee

The project team is laying asphalt pavement on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Englands Road, North Boambee. To do this work we will temporarily close Englands Road (east). Road users will be detoured through Isles Drive.

Out of hours bridge deck concrete pours, Korora

The Coffs Harbour bypass is continuing to build the bridge over Pine Brush Creek on the Pacific Highway between the Luke Bowen Pedestrian Bridge and James Small Drive (north).For this bridge, we have built piles, columns, headstocks and abutments and installed the precast bridge girders. The next step is pouring the concrete deck.

Out of hours construction on Saturdays, Boambee - February 2026

The project team sought agreement from impacted residents to extend our approved construction hours on Saturdays between Englands Road Interchange and Roberts Hill Tunnel south portal. The team received a substantial majority of acceptance of the proposed out of hours work and it has now been approved. The project team will be working, when required, from 7am to 8am and 1pm to 5pm from Saturday 14 February 2026 until the end of December 2026. This is in addition to our approved construction hours which are Monday to Friday from 7am to 6pm, and Saturday from 8am to 1pm.

Out of hours vegetation removal along Pacific Highway, Boambee - February 2026

The Coffs Harbour bypass project is carrying out vegetation maintenance along the Pacific Highway between south of Sawtell Interchange and north of Englands Road/Stadium Drive, Boambee within the project boundary.
