There are prescribed texts required for study in the Classical Hebrew Continuers Stage 6 course. The HSC course prescriptions should be read in conjunction with the:

NESA reserves the right to make changes to the prescribed texts listed on this page.

NESA provides information about the responsibilities of schools on the commencement of study of prescriptions in Assessment Certification Examination (ACE).

Prescription for 2026–2027

Prescribed Tanakh: Genesis 25:19–34, Chapters 26–29, 30:1–24, Judges 3:12–31, 4, 14–16, Ruth 1–4.

Prescribed Mishnah: Tractate Pirkei Avot, Chapters 1 and 2.

Prescription for 2028–2030

Prescribed Tanakh:  

• Genesis: Chapters 15–18 (Torah) 
• Samuel II: Chapters 9–12 (Nevi’im) 
• Esther: Chapters 5–10 (Ketuvim)

Prescribed Mishnah: 

• Mishnah Avot: Chapter 3, Chapter 4: mishnayot 1–6

Prescription for 2031–2033

Prescribed Tanakh:  

• Numbers: Chapters 16–17, Chapters 19–20, Chapter 21: verses 1–16, Chapter 22 (Torah) 
• Samuel II: Chapters 14–18 (Nevi’im) 
• Ezra: Chapter 1, Chapter 3, Chapter 4: verses 1–6, Chapter 9: verses 1–7, Chapter 10: verses 1–17 (Ketuvim)

Prescribed Mishnah: 

• Mishnah Avot: Chapter 4: mishnayot 7–22, Chapter 5: mishnayot 10–18
