UTS guided tours
This year, UTS will lead two free tours for students attending SHAPE.
The tours will provide students an exclusive insight into the operation of two world class facilities on the UTS campus to inspire and educate:
TOUR 1: Advanced Fabrication Research Lab
The Advanced Fabrication Research Lab is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to the creation of artefacts and prototypes. It is equipped with the latest digital tools, software and machinery. This lab is crucial in advancing research, teaching and commercial projects, establishing itself as a leader in bespoke fabrication.
TOUR 2: UTS Data Arena
This state-of-the-art space allows students to step inside a cylindrical screen, four metres high and ten metres in diameter, where advanced computer graphics create a seamless, three-dimensional panorama.
When
Tours will run twice per day, every day of the seminars at:
- 10:00am-10:30am (9:55am check-in)
- 11:30am-12:00pm (11:25am check-in)
Where
Tour groups (20 students per group) will meet in the foyer of the SHAPE exhibition.

The Fashion Design Studio – TAFE NSW tour and workshop
This year our partner, the Fashion Design Studio (FDS) TAFE NSW, is offering a FREE tour/workshop, available to students attending SHAPE seminars.

The Fashion Design Studio (FDS) TAFE NSW invites you to take a tour of their purpose-built design and textile artisan studio spaces and the latest cutting-edge technology in practice.
FDS are also offering a one-hour dynamic and interactive design and textile workshop to hone your creative skills and get you thinking about the many ways you can generate original and innovative design work. They will also show you how to incorporate and choose interesting and appropriate textiles for your designs.

Thursday 19 March and Friday 20 March.

- 9:30am-11:00am (9:25am check-in)
- 12:00pm-1:30pm (11:55am check-in)
Where
Tour groups (20 students per group) will meet in the foyer FDS at TAFE NSW Ultimo, Building E, Level/2 Harris St, Ultimo NSW 2007.
How to book
Plan your school's excursion to SHAPE
For a half day excursion to SHAPE we recommend allowing:
- 1 hour to visit the exhibition and Learning Lab
For a full day excursion to SHAPE we recommend:
- 1 hour to visit the exhibition and Learning Lab
- 1-2 hours to tour UTS and TAFE NSW facilities before or after your visit to SHAPE.
