From 2026, the HSC showcase SHAPE will be delivered in partnership with the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

Building 1, UTS Main Campus, 1/15 Broadway, Ultimo. The exhibition will be hosted in the foyer of the UTS tower, on the main campus.
When
16 March to 11 April 2026.
Opening hours:
- Monday to Friday: 8:30am to 3pm
- Saturday: 9am to 1pm
- Sunday: Closed
Cost
The exhibition is free to attend and open to the public.
SHAPE seminars
This year, we are pleased to offer in-person seminars for Year 11 and Year 12 students (combined year groups) across:
- Industrial Technology
- Design and Technology and
- Textiles and Design (new for 2026)
Where
UTS Great Hall, on level 2 of UTS Building 1, accessible by stairs or lift from the exhibition space on the ground floor.
When
- Tuesday 17 March (Industrial Technology, Design and Technology)
- Wednesday 18 March (Industrial Technology, Design and Technology)
- Thursday 19 March (Design and Technology, Textiles and Design)
- Friday 20 March (Design and Technology, Textiles and Design)
- Wednesday 25 March (Design and Technology)
- Thursday 26 March (Design and Technology)
All seminars include time to view the exhibition with a senior marker.
Cost
Bookings are $42 per student (teachers attend for free).
How to book
Seminars will be held for Years 11 and 12 students to coincide with the exhibition. Book seminars for:
FOEI band schools wishing to apply for fee-free access are encouraged to email their application to exhibitions@nesa.nsw.edu.au.
UTS Guided Tours
This year, UTS will lead two free tours for students attending SHAPE seminars.
The tours will provide students an exclusive insight into the operation of two world class facilities on the UTS campus to inspire and educate:
The Advanced Fabrication Research Lab is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to the creation of artefacts and prototypes. It is equipped with the latest digital tools, software and machinery. This lab is crucial in advancing research, teaching and commercial projects, establishing itself as a leader in bespoke fabrication.
TOUR 2: UTS Data Arena
This state-of-the-art space allows students to step inside a cylindrical screen, four metres high and ten metres in diameter, where advanced computer graphics create a seamless, three-dimensional panorama.
When
Tours will run twice per day, every day of the seminars at:
- 10:00am-10:30am (9:55am check-in)
- 11:30am-12:00pm (11:25am check-in)
Where
Tour groups (20 students per group) will meet in the foyer of the SHAPE exhibition.
