What this provision does
This provision allows students to sit their exams in an alternative venue. An alternative venue can be any location that doesn’t normally host the HSC exams, such as a hospital or a community centre.
Who this provision is for
This provision is for students who can’t sit their HSC exams at an HSC exam centre due to a disability or condition, such as students who:
- are in hospital at the time of the HSC exams
- have severe social phobia that prevents them from sitting exams at any school.
This provision is not for students who need to sit their HSC exams at another school or venue that is already hosting HSC exams.
How it works on the day
An exam room will be set up at the approved venue. Supervisors from a nearby HSC exam centre will bring the exam papers and other materials to the venue. The supervisors will run the exam under the same conditions as a regular exam centre.
What supporting information is needed
Examples of supporting information for this provision include:
- NESA Medical form, usually including a diagnosis of a related condition or disability
- Alternative Venue form, completed by both the school and the venue
- NESA Teacher Comments form
- Student declaration.
