What this provision does
This provision allows students extra time to type in an HSC exam. The extra time is expressed as an amount of time per half hour of exam time (for example, 2.5 minutes for each half hour).
Who this provision is for
This provision is usually for students who have a writing or typing impairment due to a physical or cognitive impairment. It is only for students who are either:
- approved to use a computer
- sitting an online exam, such as Science Extension.
How it works on the day
The extra time approved is added to the duration of the exam. For example, if a student is approved extra time to type at the rate of 2.5 minutes for each half hour of exam time in a 2-hour exam, they will have 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete their exam, excluding reading time.
Students approved extra time to type are also approved small group supervision to avoid disruption by other students.
