What this provision does
This provision allows a student to have a school support staff member to do specific tasks for them in the HSC exams. For example, the school support staff member might:
- prompt the student to stay on task or go to the next question
- turn pages of the exam papers or manipulate exam equipment.
Who this provision is for
This provision is usually for students who:
- can’t independently move through the exam, such as a student with obsessive compulsive disorder
- need physical support, such as a student with significant cerebral palsy.
How it works on the day
A school support staff member will sit with the student during the exam to do specific tasks for them. The staff member is not allowed to help the student with the exam content.
What supporting information is needed
Examples of supporting information for this provision include:
- NESA Medical form, usually including a diagnosis of a related condition or disability
- NESA Teacher Comments form
- Student declaration.
