This provision allows students to use an English thesaurus or dictionary during exams.

This provision is for students with a hearing impairment.
How it works on the day
The student is allowed to bring an English thesaurus and/or dictionary into the exam and use it when needed. The thesaurus or dictionary must be a printed version with no added notes or markings. The presiding officer will check the thesaurus and/or dictionary before the exam starts.
What supporting information is needed
Examples of supporting information for this provision include:
- NESA Hearing form, usually including a diagnosis of a related condition or disability
- An unaided audiogram
- NESA Teacher Comments form
- Student declaration.

Schools can find forms and templates for most types of supporting information through the Schools Online platform. They will print out the relevant forms and give them to students, parents or caregivers as needed.
