Overview
Health Infrastructure is redeveloping The Children’s Hospital at Westmead to further help children and young people live their healthiest lives. This significant $619 million expansion to paediatric health services in western Sydney will ensure The Children’s Hospital at Westmead continues to be a world leader in providing care for sick children across the state and will see the construction of a new Paediatric Services Building delivered by Roberts Co, and multi-storey car park to serve the existing and expanded Children’s Hospital, a revitalised forecourt and refurbishment of some areas within the existing hospital delivered by other contractors.

Overview
The Coffs Harbour Bypass (CHB) is jointly funded by the NSW Government and Australian Government. With a total length of 14 kilometres, it consists of a 12-kilometre bypass of Coffs Harbour from south of the Englands Road intersection to Korora Hill in the north, and a 2-kilometre upgrade of the existing Pacific Highway from Korora Hill north to Sapphire Beach. It will improve road safety, delivering road freight efficiency for heavy vehicles, ease congestion and improve access within the Coffs Harbour CBD.

Henry Lawson Drive Upgrade Stage 1A – Tower Road to Auld Avenue.
Henry Lawson Drive Stage 1A Upgrade is part of the program to upgrade Henry Lawson Drive between the Hume Highway and the M5 Motorway to ease congestion and improve safety and connectivity for all road users.
Stage 1A between Tower Road and Auld Avenue, will provide more capacity for vehicles travelling through the intersection of Henry Lawson Drive, Milperra Road and Newbridge Road.

Overview
John Hunter is one of the most utilised healthcare campuses in NSW. It has one of the busiest Emergency Departments, trauma centres and public hospital neurosurgery units in the state.
The redevelopment of the John Hunter and John Hunter Children’s Hospitals will deliver a significant expansion providing additional capacity and purpose-built infrastructure, to enable the implementation of contemporary models of care. The project includes an interim expansion of the existing Emergency Department to relieve current pressure.
The NSW Government is investing $835 million to redevelop the John Hunter and John Hunter Children’s Hospitals.
The project includes:
- Construction of a new Acute Services Building (ASB) including 4 levels of carpark and 6 levels of clinical space.
- Refurbishment works to the existing hospital.

The project generally involves an upgrade of approximately 1.2 km of the Great Western Highway between Railway Parade and approximately 330 metres south of Bellevue Crescent at Medlow Bath.

- Hosted a Subcontractor Forums in March 2024 for subcontractors to raise awareness about diversity, discuss challenges and barriers, and address both current and future target requirements in the construction industry, including contractual expectations from our clients.
- Implemented a pre-employment program for nine males and two females in April 2024 designed to provide skills for targeted cohorts and prepare participants for entry-level or new employment opportunities.
- In May 2024 a case study on a female worker’s remarkable career progression in the construction industry, showcasing her goal to becoming the first female superintendent.
- Girls Can Too program at TAFE NSW in May 2024, supporting 10 high school females as they explore career opportunities through a presentation and hearing from one of our female Environmental Site Representative and female Sub-foreman.
- Organising an Aboriginal Perspectives Cultural Day in late 2024 to provide employees with the opportunity to gain a better understanding and respect for the local Aboriginal culture as well as an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage. This information is used to identify and assist with planning, developing, and implementing strategies together to increase women in construction.
- Developed a targeted electrical services strategy which includes increasing awareness of the viability of electrical roles for young women in schools together with the electrical services trade partner and Training Services NSW’s Regional Industry Education Partnerships program which aims to connect employers with schools.
- The WiC Project Officer has established an ecosystem of enabling stakeholders including recruitment agencies targeting women, youth, and First Nations communities to leverage pre-employment trades training provided by these organisations; and to source and refer suitable workers directly to trade partners on the project to contribute to women in trades and non-traditional roles across the project.

- Established a Women in Construction Networking group in April 2024 featuring monthly Coffee Catch-Ups to support women in a traditionally male-dominated field. These initiatives have helped women build confidence, develop leadership skills, and navigate career challenges. In September 2024, the program transitioned to Women in Construction Lean in Circles.
- Facilitated a site visit for Gilgandra High School students (13 males and 3 females) in June 2024, following an invitation extended during the Women in Construction Industry talk at their school in April 2024. The visit included a project site overview, a guided tour, and discussions with project staff, who covered topics such as the benefits of joining the construction industry and pathways into the field.
- Presented Women in Construction Industry talk to female high school students in April 2024 at Gilgandra High School and Dubbo Christian School in June 2024. The talks focused on opportunities in the construction industry, including roles, apprenticeships, and traineeships available through VET (Vocational Education and Training) pathways.
- Implementing a female focused Trade Readiness pre-employment program for eight women from June to July 2024, designed to provide targeted cohorts and prepare participants for entry-level or new employment opportunities. The students gained practical skills including operating an excavator, using hand and power tools and preparing for employment such as CV writing and interview readiness. Additionally, students attended information sessions led by our female staff touching on topics such as: their journeys of how they got into the construction industry, insight into their roles and advice for any of them considering a career in the industry.
- A case study on the BOOTS (Building Opportunities through Outreach Training and Support) Graduation video, which was showcased at the July 2024 Graduation event to highlight the commitment, key learnings, and dedication of the participants during the 3-week program.
- Held an Aboriginal Perspectives Cultural Day, (33 males and 9 females) to provide employees with the opportunity to gain a better understanding and respect for the local Aboriginal culture as well as an enriched appreciation of Australia’s cultural heritage. This day also aimed to build awareness and cultural safety in the workplace for our First Nations employees.

The RPA Hospital Redevelopment will significantly increase healthcare capacity for both metropolitan Sydney as well as NSW, meeting healthcare needs across the State as a leading Principal Referral Hospital. The redevelopment will include a new hospital building and refurbishment of existing spaces.
Once complete the RPA Redevelopment will deliver an expanded and enhanced Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, neonatal intensive care services, state-of-the-art operating theatres, medical imaging services and additional adult and paediatric inpatient ward accommodation.

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment will transform the delivery of healthcare in Ryde and its surrounding suburbs, ensuring people can get the care they need close to home. The redevelopment will deliver a new and expanded Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit, new theatres, new purpose-built ambulatory care centre, new paediatric short stay unit, more adult overnight inpatient beds and expanded medical imaging.

The St George Hospital Stage 3 redevelopment will provide a world-class Ambulatory Care Precinct, bringing together a range of ambulatory, outpatient and community services supported by new, state-of-the-art facilities. Overview
Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport is the new metro railway line which will service Greater Western Sydney and the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport.
A city-shaping project, the 23-kilometre new railway will connect the Western Sydney Aerotropolis in the south with St Marys in the north – where customers can connect to the existing Sydney Trains suburban T1 Western Line.
The project includes six new metro stations: St Marys, Orchard Hills, Luddenham, two stations at the Airport (terminal and business park) and Aerotropolis Image.

Sydney Metro West is a new underground metro railway which will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the Sydney CBD, transforming Sydney for generations to come.
Stations have been confirmed at Westmead, Parramatta, Sydney Olympic Park, North Strathfield, Burwood North, Five Dock, The Bays, Pyrmont and Hunter Street in the Sydney CBD. Two potential station locations are being investigated west of Sydney Olympic Park, including one at Rosehill Gardens which could support a significant increase in housing.

Overview
The Western Harbour tunnel Stage 2 (WHT) is a substantial road transport infrastructure project commissioned by Transport for NSW (TfNSW) that will significantly enhance travel in and around Sydney. This section of the WHT involves constructing a 6-lane roadway connecting the Rozelle interchange with Warringah Freeway at Cammeray crossing Sydney Harbour beneath Birchgrove, Yerulbin Point, Berrys Bay and North Sydney.
The project requires roadheader excavation of the Northern section of the tunnel, Tunnel boring machine (TBM) excavation of the Southern section of tunnel (under the harbour), followed by roadway construction and Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) fit-out including lighting, jet fans and safety features installed through the P1 portion of the WHT project South of the TBM tunnel.

Key initiatives / approaches
- Provided flexible working conditions for Roberts Co staff including 5-day construction work week, working from home options, flee by three roster and part time positions for team members returning from maternity leave.
- Provided an increased quantity of amenities for women including a mothers’ room. Roberts Co are providing free sanitary products in female bathrooms.
- We have had 2 TAFE trainees rotate on our project for work experience relevant to their studies (construction management).
- Engaged a recruitment agency to deliver a toolbox presentation to subcontractors - Presentation consisted of their capabilities and offering to source and place female workforce for subcontractors.
- Facilitated a site visit for high school students (40% females attended). Students walked the site, and attended information sessions delivered by our female staff (they touched on topics such as: benefits of joining the construction industry, how to enter the construction industry, etc.).
- A survey was conducted on the subcontractors to understand their needs and how we can assist them with their women in construction commitments.
