NSW Severe Weather Event grants, payments and financial support
Grant and financial relief and support information for those impacted by the NSW Severe Weather Event from 31 July onwards.
Individuals
Support for individuals includes:
- immediate assistance for emergency accommodation.
- grants for low income, uninsured households to replace essential household items
- grants for low income, uninsured households for essential structural repairs to homes
To be eligible, individuals must reside in one of the declared affected Local Government Areas (AGRN 1216).

Emergency Recovery Vouchers
Eligible households can access one-off grocery vouchers through GIVIT, supported by the Australian Red Cross to help cover immediate essential needs such as groceries and basic supplies.
- $100 per adult (single person household)
- $200 for a household (two or more persons)
Distribution is managed at the Gunnedah Recovery Assistance Point (RAP), where Australian Red Cross volunteers will assist individuals in connecting with GIVIT and assess eligibility.
Disaster Relief Grants
The Disaster Relief Grant Program supports those most in need and those least able to return their homes to a safe and habitable condition after a natural disaster such as low-income earners and where the damage is not covered by insurance.
Funding for this grant is subject to eligibility requirements.

Business and primary producers
Small business and primary producers may also be eligible for concessional loans up to $130,000. Primary producers may also be eligible for transport subsidies of up to $15,000. Other support for non-profits and community organisations
Non-profits may be eligible for concessional loans of up to $25,000 and sporting and recreational clubs can apply for concessional loans of up to $10,000. Eligibility
To be eligible for some special assistance measures, business, primary producers, non-profits and community organisations must be in a Local Government Area (LGA) that is covered by the NSW Severe Weather Event natural disaster declaration (AGRN 1216).
