Consider the following factors for accurate results and safe rigging:

• load weight (tonnes) – consult your supervisor if unsure
• application requirements (single- or multi-leg, basket or choke hitch)
• additional Reeve Factors may apply (25% for round loads and up to 50% for square loads) on multi-leg slings
• headroom
• frequency of use and expected sling life
• type of load and surface finish
• sling length and slinging methods
• environmental factors (corrosion, heat, sharp edges)
