Couples in NSW who are not married can get legal recognition of their relationship by applying to the Registry of Births, Deaths & Marriages.
After a relationship registration application has been submitted, one or both partners named on the application can request to withdraw it.
Note: You can only request the withdrawal if your application was submitted within the last 28 days. After this time, a different form is required to revoke your registered relationship.
Visit the relationship register web page for more information.
Before you complete the application, make sure you are eligible to apply.
Once you have confirmed your eligibility, you need to prepare your proof of identity documents and supporting evidence.
When you have completed the application and prepared the required documents, submit according to the instructions on the application form.
