Main works coming to Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment
TCQ Construction, the builder engaged to deliver the main works construction for the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment project, has set up their site compound.
Builder appointed for Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment
The $50 million Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment has been given the green light, with a builder appointed to deliver main works construction and work set to start in the coming months.
Glen Innes planning approval submitted and tender under assessment
Following the completion of the public exhibition held in October and November 2025, the planning approval for the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment has now been formally submitted. Additionally the tender for the main works construction is under assessment.

Scope
The redevelopment is expected to include a new acute services building on the existing campus, housing the emergency department, medical imaging, mortuary, ambulance bays, reception and a new main entry and car parking with access from Ferguson Street.
The community, staff and stakeholders were invited to view and provide feedback on the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment master plan.
The master plan was refined during the project's planning and design stage in May 2024.
The concept design for the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment has been refined throughout the planning and design phase and includes new infrastructure for the emergency department, medical imaging, ambulance bays, and a new main entrance and car parking with access from Ferguson Street.
The new building will be linked to the existing hospital ensuring all services remain connected onsite.
The design process explored many options for delivering the aims of the redevelopment, within the available budget and challenging construction market, and includes future expansion zones to allow a staged approach to deliver the full master plan. This stage of the redevelopment will improve flows throughout the hospital for patients and staff.
The demolition of the old nurses building that was completed in late 2023 will allow for a construction staging zone and support the delivery of the full master plan in the future.
The Spanish Flu Building will be retained in this stage of the redevelopment and access for the neighbouring museum will remain from Ferguson Street.
The schematic design has been developed with staff and incorporates feedback received from stakeholders and the community throughout our consultations to date. This level of the design shows the detailed layout of each of the departments within the new hospital building.
Community pop-ups were held to seek feedback on this level of the design, at Mackenzie Mall (outside Coles/Service NSW) on 1 and 2 April 2025. Staff and stakeholder meetings and workshops were also held during March and April 2025.
