Housing Innovation Network Grants Program - Frequently asked questions
The HIN Grants Program is a $1.8 million competitive NSW Government program that supports NSW-based small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to pilot innovative housing solutions with Homes NSW in a real-world environment.
The program is open to eligible NSW‑based organisations that meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Program Guidelines.
Applicants can apply for up to $250,000 (excluding GST) per pilot project.
No. Co-contributions are not required however applicants may choose to contribute their own funds to support the pilot.

Yes. Organisations may submit more than one application provided each application is for a different solution and addresses a different challenge. Investment NSW may limit the number of grants awarded to a single applicant.
Pilot projects can run for a maximum of 12 months and are expected to commence from Quarter 4 2026.
Successful applicants will be required to enter into a Funding Agreement with the Premier’s Department (NSW), and an operational agreement with Homes NSW to enable delivery of the pilot and collaboration on project outcomes.
Eligible applications will be competitively assessed against a number of criteria which are outlined in the Program Guidelines.
Grant funding will typically be paid as 80% on execution of the Funding Agreement, with the remaining 20% paid after completion of final deliverables.
Applications must be submitted online via SmartyGrants within the published application period.
SmartyGrants is an online grants management platform used by Investment NSW to receive, manage and assess grant applications.
Yes. If you need to make changes after submitting your application, please contact Investment NSW to request that your SmartyGrants application be reopened. You must resubmit the application before the closing date and time.
No. Applications cannot be submitted after the due date.
Yes. You may withdraw your application at any time before the closing date by contacting Investment NSW. Withdrawn applications will not be considered for assessment.
We will notify all applicants, in writing, of the outcome once the assessment process is finalised.
