Program objective
The aim of the Program is to reduce the risk of a future fatal or serious crash at the site of a fatal crash.
The Program has been developed to provide a funding mechanism to rectify roadside deficiencies and/or to enhance road safety infrastructure at fatal crash sites on state and council managed roads.
Additionally, the Program supports Transport and Council procedures for investigations at fatal crash sites and aims to provide critical funding for low cost infrastructure works at these sites.
The objective of the Fatal Crash Response Sub-Program is to:
- Deliver immediate low-cost improvements at the site of a recent fatal crash to reduce the risk of a fatal or serious injury crash from reoccurring at a fatal crash site on state, regional and local roads in NSW.
- Provide road safety interventions specific to mitigating identified deficiencies which are not readily funded under other Transport road safety programs.
- Align with actions from the NSW 2026 Road Safety Action Plan as part of the Towards Zero Safer Roads Program, to support the delivery of a safer road network.
This program is administered by Transport for NSW.
